The ideal man is one of both steel and velvet. The steel qualities are different than those of velvet. (Read about the velvet qualities of a man).
STEEL A masculine man is as strong as steel. He assumes physical burdens. He earns his bread by the sweat of his face. He provides for his wife and family. He serves others. He does not look to others to do what he's responsible to do himself. He prides himself in solving problems, especially when they become difficult. He shoulders his obligations. He is creative in thought, clever in his ways, and experienced. If a man can not function in his fullest capacity as he has decided to serve, he is most uncomfortable. His wife builds more faith and belief in him as he accepts his responsibilities, particularly after she leaves the security of her parents' home and makes her way with his. She relies on his sense of duty to provide, protect and guide her. He cares about others. He respects and protects women and children. He is a man of honor - known by others as being fair, trusted, honest and respected. A man is also a builder of society. He helps others. He contributes his measure to making the world a better place and concerns himself to the welfare of others with a sense of social responsibility. His responsibility may require time, hard work and some personal sacrifice. He does all of this because he feels a moral obligation to others. He does so without complaint. A man is a warrior - aggressive, determined and decisive. He demands much from himself. He has a body of strength and skill. He set goals and works hard toward them. He is fearless and courageous in difficult tasks. He is the master of the situation. He is a master of himself because he has learned to discipline his mind and body. He has a fixed and firm belief in things, both worldly and spiritually. He holds onto his convictions, especially when he's under pressure. He rejects timidity. He stands firm.
