Being who you are is an ongoing, lifelong process. At times of meditation or prayer, its starts with connecting to who you are at the most deepest level of yourself. When you're quiet and meditating, when you are at the most relaxed, quite, and easy state of being, you get closer to who you really are. Your wife, children, job, and art are important in your life, but they can not connect you to your source of being.
How many hours today did you focus on your job, your work, and your occupational responsibilities? And how much time did you invest in focusing your attention to yourself and your source of being? What happens when you try to switch from your daily routine and busy work schedule to an effortless subsidence into self awareness and the universal energy that surrounds you and is within you. God is present everywhere. It's written that we should seek this universal spirt (call it God), in hopes that we might feel that energy and find that source, even though it's not far from each one of us. Within that omnipresent energy, we move, live, and have our being, because we were born from it. [Acts 17:27-28] This source of energy, I call it God, is never changing and is always present. This energy is literally light, lightness, and does not vary, and it does not cast your shadow. [James 1:17] It's that constant tone behind the music of life. Find that energy. Feel it within you and around you. And then, move into life from that source. Approach life with this sense of energy or enlightenment. Re-approach your work, your family, your lover. Want to make more money? Want to be a better father? A better lover? Yes, of course. You can't do it alone; you won't be able to attain success in any aspect of life on your own, disconnected from that which you spring, within which you move and live, and from which you are inspired. You must connect always with God, your energy source. [John 5:30] To connect and stay connected takes a determined effort and practice. Read books that remind you of who you are. Ephesians is a good one. Spend time with folks who inspire you and support your life. Hang out with those who study upon the truths of life as you do. Meditate, think, dwell upon, and pray daily to steep yourself in the source. It often feels as though you're swimming in a deep pool of water, but you don't get wet, because it's all energy. Do not neglect the spirit which is in you, which was given to you by God. Practice, cultivate, and meditate upon these things. Throw yourself wholly into them, so that your progress may be evident to everybody. Take care of yourself, your deepest being. Take care of your life and persevere in your efforts. By doing so, you will save both yourself and those around you. [1 Timothy 4:14-16] If you're like me, you're often consumed by the daily trivial things in life, the events and tasks of the day. The weekend flies by, and you didn't get to have any real fun. Well, don't let this happen. Don't let 10 years get behind you ["Time" by Pink Floyd]. Pull the plug on the TV. Log out of Facebook. Put down your phone. Get off-grid. Stop texting back. None of the stuff that has ever happened has made any real difference to who you are. Disconnect. I dare you. Don't let your attention be absorbed by things that really don't matter. Know God. Open your eyes. Your mind and body will follow. Let your "eye" be a lamp of the body. And if your eye (or the stuff which you focus upon) is correct and healthy, then your whole body will be full of light. You'll be enlightened. [Matt 6:22] Spirit is a force that exists in the universe. It is energy. Where is it? It is everywhere. You're made up of it. You're essentially made up of elements and energy. And so is everything else.
If you think of yourself in this way for a moment (elements and energy), you'll realize that deep down inside, you're made up of pure energy. Vibrating energy. If we take a piece of your body, say your thumb, and break it down into molecules, we'll see atoms. Break atoms down further, and you'll see electrons. Then particles, and sub-atomic particles. And finally, if you try to take these quantum particles and smash them together to see what they're really made of, you'll find that there's no particle at the source. There's nothing but pure unbound energy, vibrating really fast. So, at our core, we are essentially boundless vibrating energy. I call it a spiritual energy, because it has purpose. Cut open an apple, and look at it's seed. Take one seed and cut it open. What do you see inside? An apple tree? No. Take a chestnut. Cut it open. What do you see? A small tall chestnut tree? No. Plant a sunflower seed in the earth, and what will grow? An apple tree? No. These are simple questions that may make one consider how incredibly organized, apparently purposeful, and beautifully designed unseen energy can be. In nature, it's not difficult to predict an outcome, ie. apple seeds grow into apple trees, sunflower seeds grow into sunflowers, etc. And that's because deep down inside these physical manifestations of energy is spirit. Spirit, unbounded energy with an apparent intention or purpose. We are connected to this field of energy that is omnipresent. Some believe our brains interact with this spiritual energy field. Maybe our brains are designed that way. The interaction is manifested as imagination, creativity, and intelligence. Our thoughts are the result of connecting with this spiritual energy that's all around us. Enlightened folk seem to be connected more to this than the rest of us. They are more in spirit, inspired. Some have suggested that everything you can think, all information, everything actually exists in an invisible domain or unseen reality, and you can tap into this information when you need to. You can plug in and connect. You become in spirit or inspired. Take a moment to reflect. When was the last time you felt inspired? Really inspired, motivated, to do something fun or creative. Was it brought forth by a thought, or maybe you felt connected momentarily with someone or something else? Now, imagine, if we're assuming that this energy is all around us, you could choose to be inspired. Imagine that at any moment of your choosing, getting really inspired. Feeling and being really connected to that which inspires you. My desire for you is to not be disconnected. Don't be disconnected from that which is all around you. If you want to live like a king, you've got to plug in and connect. You may want to read "You're Always Energy" in The King's Guide. |
